Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Perle Lipsticks (0.14 oz for $34) are described as "creamy and nourishing...lips instantly feel soft and supple and are drenched in gorgeous color with a satiny-pearl finish." Incandescent Orange (110) doesn't necessarily look orange upon application, but more coral with orange undertones. It has orange and gold shimmer. Mysterious Red (111) is a blue-based red with no shimmer or sparkle. These are definitely creamy, opaque and quite shiny upon application. In my experience, YSL lipsticks always go on like butter, smooth to the point where it feels like the color is dripping off the lips. The added shine factor almost makes these feel like a gloss, but after about 2 hours, the color settles into a nice, satin finish. Incandescent Orange and Mysterious Red are absolutely gorgeous, in my opinion, and the colors worked well with my fair skintone. These are mango-scented, like most other YSL lipsticks.
YSL describes these as having a "long-lasting and highly comforting formula, leave lips looking smoother, fuller and more radiant." I got about 5-6 hours of wear, but towards hours 5 and 6 I noticed color sinking into lines. They also left my lips feeling a bit quenched, and I definitely reached for my chapstick after taking these off. Speaking of removal, the strong pigment on these left stains. I suggest using an oil-based makeup remover. As for YSL's smoother, fuller and more radiant claim, I definitely agree. Mysterious Red in particular gave incredible depth to my lips, making them appear fuller.
I have always been a huge fan of YSL lipsticks not only because of their super creamy texture and large range of colors, but their elegant packaging as well. I love the detail of each gold tube, with matching color behind the filigree of YSL logo that wraps around the middle. These are definitely worth the splurge, in my eyes.
